Your new companyAn Environmental Consultancy specialising in helping firms apply for, vary and maintain compliance with environmental permits and environmental legislation.You would be joining a permitting team consisting of ex-Environment Agency inspectors and permitting officers, so they have an expert understanding of environmental legislation and the internal procedures and requirements of the Environment Agency.Your new roleThe main responsibilities you will undertake during this role are:
- Preparation of permit application forms and technical documentation.
- Conducting Best Available Technique (BAT) reviews.
- Development and implementation of Environmental Management Systems.
- Reporting and investigating environmental incidents.
- Assessing materials and waste as part of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs).
- Business development, including scoping and preparing project proposals and deliverables.
- Conducting Air Quality, Water Quality, Noise, Vibration, and Odour Impact Assessments.
What you'll need to succeed
- A relevant first degree (or equivalent) in science and /or engineering and preferably a relevant second degree (or equivalent) and working towards a chartership in a relevant professional institution.
- Extensive knowledge of UK and European environmental legislation, in particular the Environmental Permitting Regulations, Industrial Emissions Directive and BAT Reference Documents (BRef), together with other relevant legislation and guidance.
- Knowledge of working on industrial environmental permitting.
- Experience writing and editing high quality technical and non-technical reports.
- A minimum of 2 years experience in an Environmental Permitting-based role.
