Accelerate Teaching is seeking a dedicated and skilled DT Technician to join a dynamic team at a leading secondary school in Kirklees, starting in September 2024. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting students and enhancing their educational journey in Design and Technology.

Role Overview: As a DT Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Design and Technology department. You will provide essential technical support, maintain equipment, and assist teachers in delivering high-quality lessons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up materials and equipment for DT lessons, ensuring everything is ready for teaching.
  • Maintain and repair machinery and tools, ensuring they meet safety standards and are in good working order.
  • Assist teachers in the delivery of practical demonstrations and projects.
  • Manage and organise stock, including ordering and maintaining inventory levels.
  • Ensure that health and safety protocols are adhered to, providing a safe learning environment for students.
  • Support students with their projects, offering guidance and assistance as needed.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience working as a DT Technician or in a similar role within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of Design and Technology equipment and materials.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to DT environments.
  • A proactive approach with a problem-solving mindset.
