Company Overview:

We are working with a dynamic organization with between 250 - 500 employees, based in West Yorkshire. As part of the strategy to bring IT operations in-house, we are looking for an experienced IT Manager to take on a stand-alone role, providing hands-on, onsite IT support and management. This role is crucial for ensuring smooth IT operations, supporting staff, and overseeing all technology-related needs within the company.

Job Overview:

The IT Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management and support of the company’s IT systems, infrastructure, and equipment. This is a stand-alone, hands-on role, requiring full onsite. multi-site presence to provide direct support to employees, particularly for new starter setups and ongoing IT requirements. The role includes the setup and maintenance of hardware, software, and user accounts, while ensuring the security and reliability of the company’s IT environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Day-to-Day IT Management:

    • Provide full onsite IT support for all staff, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues.
    • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot the company’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and hardware.
    • Manage the lifecycle of all IT assets, including procurement, setup, and decommissioning of hardware and software.
  • New Starter Setup & Equipment Management:

    • Coordinate and set up IT equipment (laptops, desktops, phones, etc.) for new employees, ensuring a smooth onboarding process.
    • Set up new user accounts, including access to systems, software, and company networks.
    • Manage the provisioning and inventory of IT equipment, ensuring adequate stock and availability of devices.
  • Onsite Presence & Support:

    • Act as the primary point of contact for all IT-related queries and support requests, providing hands-on assistance to staff across the company.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
    • Provide onsite support for all meetings, events, and remote work setups as required.
  • IT Infrastructure Management:

    • Oversee the management of the company’s IT infrastructure, ensuring reliable operation of networks, servers, and systems.
    • Ensure regular backups, updates, and maintenance of IT systems to prevent data loss and downtime.
    • Implement and maintain robust cybersecurity measures, including firewalls, antivirus software, and system access controls.
  • Security & Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations, such as GDPR, regarding IT systems and data management.
    • Regularly update and patch software to ensure systems are secure and up to date.
    • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans, including backup procedures and failover systems.
  • Vendor & Contract Management:

    • Manage relationships with IT service providers and hardware/software vendors, ensuring efficient service delivery.
    • Negotiate and manage contracts for hardware, software, and IT services, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
Key Requirements:
  • Qualifications & Experience:

    • Proven experience (5+ years) in a hands-on IT support or IT Manager role within a mid-sized organization.
    • Experience managing IT systems and infrastructure in a stand-alone capacity, including networks, servers, and end-user devices.
    • Experience in setting up new starters, including user accounts, hardware, and software provisioning.
  • Skills:

    • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues independently.
    • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and requests in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong communication skills, able to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to manage IT equipment inventory and ensure that new starters are set up efficiently.
  • Certifications (Preferred):

    • CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), or similar certifications are advantageous.
    • ITIL or other IT service management certifications would be an asset.
