MRO Stores Controller – Leeds – c£14.00 ph – 4 day week (Mon-Thurs)

Our client, a leading Manufacturing business in Leeds, is looking to appoint a Stores Controller for their MRO Stores to support the supply chain function in a leading manufacturing businesses. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the MRO stores across 3 areas - manufacturing, machining & fabrication; consignment stocking; operational purchasing - placing orders for MRO, Tooling & Consumables; handling incoming and outgoing stock; processing orders and managing stock control (min & max levels, kanban) using their MRP system.

  • Maintain stores – consignment stock, kanban, min & max stock levels
  • Placing orders for MRO, Consumables, Health & Safety & Factory goods & stock
  • Conduct periodic stock taking activities
  • Conduct regular 5S activities within the stores department including red tagging any surplus/redundant stock
  • To receive, check and put away product as required.
  • To take responsibility for supporting the development of the stores function and improving existing processes
  • Deal with stock requisitions from the shop floor and issue as appropriate Implement a more visual and standard system
  • Issue stock for works orders ensuring they are in the correct location
  • Manual handling of goods unloading.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Previous stores and stock handling experience essential – maintain consignment stock, min & max stock levels etc
  • Fork Lift Truck (FLT - Counterbalance) & Overhead crane licence 
  • Operational purchasing experience – placing orders for MRO, Consumables, H&S & Factory goods
  • Sound knowledge of good working practice relating to Health & Safety Regulations
  • Excellent I.T. skills with knowledge of ERP systems – ideally Opera or EFACS
  • Excellent organisation skills & good attention to detail
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a similar role within an engineering / manufacturing / workshop environment is essential
  • You will be a confident communicator both written and verbal, good at multitasking, and be comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Full UK driving licence essential
