Job Summary:

The Corporate Utility & Energy Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing the organisation’s utility and energy operations, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective consumption of energy across all properties managed by the facilities team. This role requires ensuring the smooth onboarding of new properties while maintaining compliance with energy regulations and sustainability goals. The position involves collaboration with multiple departments, external suppliers, and service providers to optimise utility usage and manage contracts effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage the organisation’s utility and energy operations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and sustainability objectives.

  • Coordinate the onboarding of new properties, ensuring utility setup is compliant, efficient, and cost-effective.

  • Develop and implement strategies to optimise energy consumption and reduce costs across managed properties.

  • Manage vendor relationships, including contract negotiations, performance tracking, and issue resolution.

  • Monitor and analyse energy data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with corporate energy policies, government regulations, and industry standards.

  • Collaborate with internal teams including finance, procurement, and facilities management to streamline processes and achieve energy efficiency targets.

  • Prepare reports on energy consumption, cost-saving initiatives, and regulatory compliance for senior management.

  • Support sustainability initiatives by identifying and implementing renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the energy sector, including market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies.

Key Skills & Qualifications:
  • Corporate Energy Knowledge: Strong understanding of industry processes, vendor management, and contract administration.

  • Commercial Acumen & Analytical Mindset: Ability to analyse energy data, track performance metrics, and make cost-effective decisions.

  • Organisational Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workloads, and meet deadlines efficiently.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and service providers.

  • Attention to Detail: Strong ability to process orders, track energy data, and manage contracts with accuracy.

  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with energy management systems, data analysis tools, and reporting software.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
  • Experience working in a corporate energy or utilities role.

  • Understanding of energy procurement, budgeting, and forecasting.

  • Knowledge of sustainability practices and energy efficiency measures.

  • Relevant qualifications in Energy Management, Sustainability, or a related field are desirable.

Working Conditions:
