Role: UPS Service & Maintenance Engineer

Location: Leeds, England 

Hours: Full time

Salary: £40K + Overtime 

Position: 

To carry out, commissioning, servicing, periodic maintenance on uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and associated battery solutions. Standard and bespoke applications typically ranging from 1kva to 500kva systems.

Follow strict PPE controls and adhere to specific site instructions. Advise on the site’s current and future critical power requirements. Resolve any issues without interrupting the customer’s business activities and ensuring high standards are always maintained.

Duties are but not limited to:

  • Site visits for service and maintenance of UPS systems.
  • Fault diagnosis, testing and repairs on all types, makes and manufacture of UPS, batteries, switchgear and control systems.
  • Replace service parts in line with remedial documentation.
  • Carry out commissioning of UPS and battery systems and associated switchgear equipment.
  • Complete battery testing using up to date testers and Flir equipment.
  • Support the business SLA requirements for breakdown response times.   
  • Offer technical support and assistance to internal departments and customers when required.
  • Accurately complete all service visit reports and ensure that full recommendations for remedial actions are included.
  • Ensure that reports are submitted within the agreed deadline and that the company CRM system is updated.
  • Included into the company on call rota.
  • Follow safety regulations and PPE control requirements as listed within specific on-site RAMS documentation.
  • Complete dynamic on site risk assessments before commencing with any work.
  • Attend manufacturer training to improve and develop knowledge and skill set.
  • Carryout any other reasonable duties or tasks as determined by the needs of the business. This could include but not limited UPS installations and battery replacements.

The successful candidate will have:  

  • Relevant Electronic Qualification
  • Electrical qualification and hands on experience
  • ECS Card (not essential)
  • 5 years working as a field engineer on UPS systems
  • Experience of power electronics
  • Experience working on medium voltage applications
  • Must have a clean Full UK driving license
  • Excellent communication skills with customers and colleges
  • Good Personal organisation skills
  • Experience in all Microsoft office applications
  • Proficient in the use of IT for report writing and UPS system interrogation
  • Strong sense of accountability
