Veritas Education are on the lookout for Youth Support Workers to work in a through school for children and young people with SEN and medical needs. The learners attending the school have a variety of different needs, including Autism, Down Syndrome, Communication Needs, PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) and medical/mobility needs too.

Across the setting, the school provides a variety of different ability classes for all children, coping and managing their needs to help them access their education to the best of their ability. The school has fantastic facilities to meet the needs of all children, along with a staffing team who are dedicated, passionate and caring when it comes to providing the best life and access to education for the learners attending the school.

Job Description:

As an Educational Assistant at, you will play a crucial role in helping students succeed academically and personally. You will work closely with teachers and other staff members to provide support to students with diverse learning needs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting teachers in planning and implementing educational activities.
  • Providing 1:1 or small group support to students who require additional help.
  • Supporting students with special needs and adapting classroom materials as necessary.
  • Monitoring and documenting student progress.
  • Be confident with behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
  • Assisting with classroom management and creating a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborating with teachers, parents, and other team members to ensure the success of each student.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students in an educational setting is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Relevant training and certificates such as Team Teach is desirable, although training can be offered by Veritas
  • Candidates must hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS upon registration
  • Have proof of eligibility to work in the UK
