A vibrant and welcoming mainstream school in South Liverpool is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This full-time role is ideal for someone who is committed to fostering positive learning experiences and building strong, trusting relationships with pupils.

The Role:
  • Supporting a pupil with ASD on a 1:1 basis to promote engagement, confidence, and academic progress.
  • Implementing strategies to help manage behavior, build routines, and support emotional regulation.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt lesson plans and ensure the pupil's individual needs are met.
  • Encouraging social interaction and participation in classroom activities.
The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Patient and empathetic: You understand the importance of creating a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Adaptable: You can think on your feet and tailor your approach to suit the individual needs of the pupil.
  • Experienced: Previous experience working with children with SEND, particularly ASD, is highly desirable.
  • Proactive: You take initiative, support with planning, and can confidently follow behavior management strategies.
  • Committed: You are reliable and dedicated to helping the pupil achieve their full potential.
Requirements:
  • Relevant experience working with children, ideally in a SEND or ASD-specific setting.
  • A good understanding of strategies to support children with autism.
  • An up-to-date DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
