Senior Payroll and Pensions Officer
Contract: Permanent Role.Salary: Up to £31,500Location: MerseysideI am recruiting for a Senior Payroll & Pensions Officer based in Merseyside. This is a full-time, permanent role offering a salary of up to £31,500, 32 days holiday plus bank holidays, and membership in the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).The Role: Senior Payroll and Pensions OfficerEnsure the smooth and accurate processing of end-to-end monthly payroll while managing pension administration for the organisation and its associated training provider.Key Responsibilities: Senior Payroll and Pensions Officer
- Support the Payroll & Pensions Manager in delivering a timely and efficient payroll service.
- Process new starters, leavers, and contractual changes accurately.
- Ensure correct pension enrolment and contributions
- Handle payroll claims, including timesheets, additional hours, and expenses.
- Manage statutory payments such as sickness and parental leave.
- Process tax code changes, student loan deductions, and court orders.
- Provide payroll and pension advice to employees in a helpful and confidential manner.
- Assist with payroll reconciliations, reports, and year-end processing.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC and statutory payroll regulations.
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 2 years' payroll experience in a busy environment.
- GCSE Maths & English (A-C)* - AAT or CIPP membership is desirable.
- Strong Excel skills and ability to manage high-volume data processing.
- Experience in payroll calculations (PAYE, NI, pensions, statutory payments).
- Knowledge of LGPS & Teachers' Pensions is highly advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to resolve payroll queries effectively.
- Organised, proactive, and capable of meeting strict deadlines.
