A well established banking institution is seeking a Financial Controller to join their Wealth and Asset Management arm, duties will include maintaining internal controls over financial, tax, regulatory reporting and producing commentary to support management and forecasting.
Main Responsibilities
- Managing day-to-day finance operations with a team of two direct reports
- Performing all related accounting functions required to maintain the general ledger in compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS and company policy and procedures
- Analytical review and analysis of financial data and generating monthly trend reports and balance sheet reconciliations ensuring financial statement accuracy and investigating variances
- Monitor and manage financial risks in-line with compliance and regulations
- Complete all HMRC filings and returns including corporation taxes and VAT in accordance with tax policy.
- Preparation of formal year end statutory accounts - coordinating annual external audit activities within the business. and liaising with external auditors
- Oversight of bank reconciliations and maintenance of cash flow forecasts to ensure funds are available to meet obligations
- Help to drive team’s automation strategy, with huge scope to redesign some existing manual processes, particularly around financial operations
- Deputise for Head of Finance as appropriate
- Regulatory reporting. Liquidity and capital requirements calculations, analysis and management under ICARA regime
Experience/Qualifications
Qualified accountant with a strong experience as a Financial Controller
Experience in team management
Analytical minded and excited by new challenges and creating new processes
Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and meet strict deadlines
Academic: ACA/ ACCA/CIMA qualified with a minimum of 5 years post qualified experience
