Settlements Accountant | Independent Music Scale Up

Harmonic are delighted to be working once again with one of the Music Industry's most renowned and successful independent businesses, in the search for a settlements accountant during an exciting new phase for the business.

The Business:

Our client has been a stalwart in the music industry over the last 20 years, forging partnerships with some of the Music Industry's most famous and successful bands, musicians and artists. The company work internationally and has successfully grown the business to around £15m turnover. They operate a multi-faceted business which covers Ecommerce, Retail and Live Entertainment.

Based in one of London's trendy hubs for Music companies; the business operates a flexible working arrangement, allowing individuals to work from home up to 2 days per week. They are proud of their inclusive, dynamic and fun culture - underpinned by a true family feel to the work environment.

With exciting plans to scale the business, they are looking for a new settlements accountant to take the lead on improving processes and help drive efficiencies throughout the finance function. This will be crucial in supporting business growth in this exciting next phase.

The Role:

As the settlements accountant, you will work closely with finance director on the continual streamlining and improving of the finance function. There will be a large emphasis on working alongside client managers on completing band settlements during their respective tours, along with assisting the FD with the year end accounts and FEU quarterly returns.

The Duties:

  • Completing Band Settlements for UK, EU and US Bands, while working alongside and guiding client managers
  • Completion of European Vat Returns for all EU territories
  • FEU quarterly returns and dealing with any withholding tax issues
  • Reconciliation of tour accounts to ledgers
  • Advising Client Managers with regard to deals, settlements, VAT issues
  • Leading on improving systems and streamlining processes
  • Assisting Finance Director in completing reports/year end accounts/other Balance sheet Reconciliations

What we need to see (essential):

  • PQ / Qualified by Experience
  • Music industry / royalties experience

What we'd like to see (bonus):

  • Live touring industry experience
  • Solid working knowledge of VAT relating to products sold overseas

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 plus bonus

Location: Central London (3 days in office)
