The Role: VAT Tax AnalystAs a VAT Tax Analyst, you will be instrumental in ensuring VAT compliance across European jurisdictions. You'll work closely with internal teams, stakeholders, and tax authorities to manage VAT filings, registrations, reconciliations, and process improvements. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in a fast-moving, high-profile tax environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, analyse, and submit European VAT returns and related filings.
- Manage Intrastat returns and VAT registrations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Support FASS5 analysis and collaborate with stakeholders on internal projects.
- Address VAT compliance queries from business units operating across EMEA.
- Map VAT processes, identify inefficiencies, and propose improvements.
- Conduct month-end VAT account reconciliations.
- Provide audit support and perform detailed data analysis.
- Act as an internal advisor on VAT compliance matters for various teams.
- Contribute to cross-functional projects, ensuring smooth VAT operations.
What We're Looking For:Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong VAT knowledge and understanding of European tax regulations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Macros).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in VAT compliance, advisory, or a similar finance function.
- Highly organised, analytical, and methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- A strong team player who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A recognised accounting or tax qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, AAT, or similar) - not mandatory.
- Experience with Python, Alteryx, or other data analysis tools is a plus.
- Proven ability to take ownership, drive process improvements, and implement changes.
- Strong communication skills, with experience collaborating across departments.
