The Greater London Authority are looking to recruit a Project Officer to join their Planning Unit on an interim 12-month basis. The Project Officer will support the delivery of evidence for the London Plan and other planning documents. This role involves working collaboratively with the GLA, DLUHC, local planning authorities, and other partners to develop and maintain effective stakeholder engagement and communication strategies.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Work within various project teams focused on supporting the preparation of evidence for the London Plan, including research and analysis related to planning in London.
- Develop robust project documentation such as scoping documents, project initiation documents, methodologies, and reporting documentation including impact assessments.
- Collaborate across the GLA family and with Local Planning Authorities to optimize data usage and solve problems to ensure information is fit for purpose.
- Facilitate project delivery and stakeholder involvement through organising meetings, conferences, seminars, and other events.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, monitor and report progress, and facilitate its use in relevant GLA strategies and programmes.
- Identify and facilitate opportunities for closer collaboration across the GLA’s programmes and other relevant partnership opportunities.
- Support and contribute to the provision of timely advice and briefings to GLA colleagues, including the Deputy Mayor and Mayor’s Office.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working on high-profile projects across public and private sectors.
- Strong understanding of planning issues affecting London, particularly relating to development data.
- Proven project management skills with the ability to deliver initiatives on time and to target.
- Experience in developing or managing websites to provide accessible information to the public.
- Familiarity with borough planning processes and/or systems is preferred.
