Without being able to see, our guests have to rely exclusively on their other senses! We believe that an essential aspect of having dinner at Dans le Noir ? is to be taken care of by our visually impaired waiters and discover their world for one meal.
Your missions:
Dans le Noir ?, located in Farringdon, is looking for Full Time Commis Chef to start immediately.
Restaurants opening hours: 5pm to midnight weekdays 12 to midnight on weekends.
As a Commis Chef, you will be responsible for supporting the Head Chef in the Kitchen delivering consistently high-quality food and handle orders to meet the standards set by the Restaurant.
You will also be expected to:
- Ensure the highest standards and consistent quality in the daily preparation.
- Keep up to date with new products, recipes and preparation techniques.
- Ensure that items that arrived are temperature checked.
- Ensure adequacy of supplies at the cooking station.
- Follow the guidance of the Head Chef has input in ways of presentation or dishes & ensure food is presented to the required standard.
- Follow strict health and hygiene standards.
- Ensure stock is stored appropriately to ensure longevity and quality is preserved to maximise the quality of the food delivered at the restaurant.
- Stock rotation and use by dates to produce food are followed and food is produced so not to contribute to wastage.
- Ensure basic cleaning jobs are carried out as quickly as possible with kitchen porter duties on some days.
- Make sure surfaces, walls and floors are cleaned and sanitised.
- Help to maintain a climate of smooth and friendly cooperation.
Experience and competencies:
-Familiar with the hospitality sector
-Understanding of health and safety and environmental health, and food compliance regulations
-Food handlers training
Compliance:
-Ensuring the tasks for legal compliance are carried out and adequate records maintained.
-Supporting the Head Chef as required to meeting with Environmental Health Officers and government officials who may wish to inspect the premises from time-to-time.
