Job Title: Records Management & Information Governance
Location: Wandsworth - Mainly remote working (some office visits)
Hourly rate £23.85 PAYE / £32.76 Umbrella Per Hour
Contract Length: 3-month initial contract (possibility of extension)
Working Pattern: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 36 hours

Role purpose:
- Ensure robust, compliant, and effective Records Management and Information Governance policies, processes, and controls are in place, continuously reviewed, and effectively implemented.
- Act as a key advisor on data protection and records management, collaborating with senior managers and operational teams.
- Support the Information Governance Manager and the Data Protection Officer (DPO) in fulfilling statutory roles and implementing improvement across both Councils.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review and maintain records management policies to meet statutory requirements and best practices.
- Review and monitor the records management improvement program, reporting progress to governance bodies.
- Support the delivery of the wider Information Governance improvement agenda, ensuring policies and practices align with current legislation, including GDPR and FOI/EIR.
- Review draft Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) providing recommendations for compliance.
- Manage information rights casework, ensuring timely and compliant responses.
- Provide specialist input on data sharing agreements, data processing agreements and data protection clauses in contracts to meet legal and organisational standards.
- Assist in handling data breaches promptly and effectively, in collaboration with the Information Security team.
Knowledge, skills & experience:
- Recent Local Government experience, including NHS
- In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, including GDPR, FOI/EIR, and Records Management standards (ISO 15489, ISO 27001, BS 10008).
- Practical understanding of information governance frameworks, data sharing principles, and risk management processes.
- Proven track record of leading Records Management and Information Governance projects in a complex organisation, preferably public sector.
- Experience in managing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and compliance activities.
- Hands-on experience with electronic records management tools such as Office 365, SharePoint, and other IT platforms.
- Relevant degree or professional certification in Records Management, Information Governance, or related fields.
- Certification in project management would be an advantage.
