Your new companyOur client are a leading student accommodation provider in London with multiple sites across zones 1 & 2. They are hiring a Fabric Engineer to join their in-house team at one of their sites. Working pattern - 5 days over 7.Your new roleAs Fabric Engineer, you will be part of the dedicated team for your site and will maintain assets through management of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes and reactive maintenance activities. You will assist in supporting the facilities, PPM, reactive maintenance and lifecycle of the building, to ensure customer property management objectives and KPI targets are met. Other key duties will include:

  • Hands-on maintenance with a focus on plant rooms (PPMs and minor repairs as appropriate)
  • Liaising with external contractors for electrical and mechanical maintenance
  • Fabric maintenance where required (painting, carpentry etc.)
  • Point of contact for maintenance assistants on site (not directly line managing)
  • Support maintenance manager with the achievement of 100% compliance in audit
  • Ensure adherence to H&S policies and ensuring that risk assessments and method statements are obtained/maintained

What you'll need to succeedTo succeed in this role you will require experience in a maintenance position within a commercial environment, ideally within a multi-floor residential setting (student accommodation, hotel, apartments etc.). You will also require:

  • Experience working in plant rooms for PPMs, minor repairs and maintenance, and to liaise with specialist contractors as appropriate
  • Maintenance experience - minor plant room repairs, minor plumbing, minor AC, fabric repairs etc.
  • PPM knowledge
  • H&S and compliance knowledge and awareness
  • Ability to work as a team and support assistants on site
