Credit Valuation Controller – Product Control Group

About the Role

Venn Group are seeking a Credit Valuation Controller to join our dynamic Product Control team within a leading global banking institution. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of global valuations, leveraging expertise in Independent Price Verification (IPV), Fair Value Adjustments (FVA), Prudent Valuation Adjustments (PVA), and Fair Value Hierarchy (FVH) processes.

As a member of the Credit Valuations and Product Control team, you will report directly to the Global Methodology Lead for Structured Credit Valuations, based in London. The role will focus on the Global Private Credit business, offering a challenging and rewarding environment for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in this domain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Private Credit Valuations: Focus on secondary loan trading, distressed credit, and private equity portfolios. Perform in-depth trade/position-level analysis and bespoke valuations for FVA and PVA processes.
  • Drive methodology and implementation of valuation changes, keeping up-to-date with industry developments and ensuring alignment with internal and external audit requirements.
  • Produce and manage key deliverables, including:
    • IPV, FVA, and PVA balances
    • Methodologies and documentation
    • Monitoring model restrictions and recommendations
    • Levelling returns
  • Collaborate with Credit core Product Control teams to ensure accurate valuation conclusions and seamless communication with the business.
  • Actively engage with stakeholders across the Front Office, Risk, Quants, and global Valuations and Analytics teams to drive consistent, efficient valuation practices.
  • Prepare for and contribute to valuation committees and ensure adherence to governance, controls, and regulatory standards.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimisation and implement strategies for cost efficiency, including automation and standardisation.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a highly skilled valuation professional with:

  • Expertise in credit and private equity valuation techniques, with the ability to discuss these in detail with the trading desk.
  • Experience with IPV, FVA, PVA, and FVH processes.
  • Strong independent working capabilities, balanced with effective escalation and collaboration skills.
  • Proven ability to engage with diverse stakeholders across regions and functions.
  • A focus on process optimisation and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Efficiently manage IPV, FVA, and PVA processes, ensuring compliance with accounting and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee fair value adjustments for the Private Credit business.
  • Respond promptly to issues, identifying root causes and delivering effective solutions.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and drive efficiency through automation and process optimisation.
  • Collaborate with the Global Methodology Lead to standardise valuation frameworks across regions.
