Job Overview:
As a Data Centre Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining and optimizing our data centre infrastructure. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of hardware and systems, ensuring the facility operates at peak efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections of servers, network equipment, and power systems.
- Respond promptly to alerts, troubleshoot issues, and execute resolutions to ensure 24/7 uptime.
- Install and decommission hardware, including racking, cabling, and labeling equipment.
- Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, airflow) to maintain optimal operating parameters.
- Collaborate with network and systems engineers to ensure seamless connectivity and performance.
- Maintain accurate documentation for all equipment, configurations, and procedures.
- Support capacity planning and recommend upgrades or improvements to meet business demands.
- Adhere to safety and compliance standards while working in the data centre environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience as a Data Centre Engineer or in a similar IT infrastructure role.
- Strong understanding of server hardware, networking equipment, and associated components.
- Familiarity with power systems, UPS, and cooling solutions in a data centre environment.
- Hands-on experience with cabling standards and best practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible to work on-call and in shifts to support 24/7 operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CCNA, or equivalent.
- Experience with monitoring tools and ticketing systems.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and frameworks.
