A leading global content agency is recruiting for a Database Operations, Project & Client Support Manager to join their London team. This is a unique opportunity to manage data operations, oversee projects, and support a globally renowned luxury brand, working with their teams in Switzerland and worldwide, in a role that blends MS SQL expertise, project

As a Database Operations, Project & Client Support Manager, you’ll manage MS SQL databases, oversee data-related projects (e.g., new database functionality or user interface rebuilds), and engage directly with a high-profile client, all while supporting a small, high-performing team. This role is a unique blend of SQL data operations, project management, client support, and email marketing, making it ideal for someone with experience in a software house, service-led organization, or agency with in-house data teams—such as an Application Support DBA, Production DBA, or Data Operations Manager with project coordination experience.

Key Responsibilities

Data Operations:

  • Manage MS SQL databases, performing maintenance, data cleansing, and extraction for campaigns.
  • Produce data and PDF files for customer communications, including welcome letters, emails, magazines, and special projects like questionnaires.
  • Generate regular and ad-hoc reports for the client, their global offices, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure data protection compliance (e.g., GDPR), providing advice to the client on data management best practices.

Project Management:

  • Oversee data-related projects, such as the development of new database functionality or complete user interface rebuilds, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with client needs.
  • Coordinate occasional non-magazine projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables, ensuring smooth execution from start to finish.

Client Engagement:

  • Act as a key point of contact for the client’s Switzerland team and global offices, addressing queries related to customer data management.
  • Manage customer document and archive processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Email Marketing & Campaign Coordination:

  • Oversee multi-lingual email campaigns, coordinating assets (text, translations, images), managing email design in MailChimp, and working with the digital team on templates and Litmus tests.
  • Assist with data extraction and manipulation for email sends, ensuring campaigns are delivered on time.

Team Coordination:

  • Support the recruitment and day-to-day management of a freelance data team, matching skills and languages to workload demands.
  • Allocate daily tasks for the team, including post opening, data entry, document organization, scanning, filing, and archiving.
  • Collaborate with distribution and production teams on daily operations and new initiatives.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Hands-on experience with MS SQL, including database management, maintenance, and data extraction (e.g., writing SELECT, UPDATE, JOIN queries).
  • Proven project management experience, ideally in data-related or software development projects (e.g., managing database functionality builds or user interface rebuilds).
  • Familiarity with data management tools like Excel and a solid understanding of data protection (e.g., GDPR).
  • Experience with email marketing platforms like MailChimp.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with clients effectively.
  • A hands-on attitude and willingness to tackle day-to-day tasks.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of a language other than English (e.g., French, given the Switzerland connection).
  • Experience in a client-facing role, such as supporting clients in a software house or agency.
  • Familiarity with managing small teams or freelancers.
