This prestigious membership organisation and trade union is looking to recruit a temporary Employee Relations Specialist to support the provision of services for members and activists in their designated region, advising on issues including education, employment, and professional practice.
Key Responsibilities of the Employee Relations Specialist:
- Offer support and advice to members in their ongoing cases with employment issues, including advice in specific healthcare sector.
- Build relationships with member employers in order to negotiate effectively.
- Represent the membership organisation locally, collaborating with member employers, separate trade unions, and other external stakeholders.
- Undertake research and actively campaign on behalf of the organisation across a range of issues, in line with the position of the institution.
- Promote benefits of membership with the organisation.
- Provide mentorship to Union Stewards, overseeing their casework and ensuring close supervision where required.
Education, Skills and Experience:
- Understanding of health and social care issues and their impact on the wider healthcare industry.
- Knowledge of employment legislation and best practice with respect to employment practice, and equality and diversity.
- Hands-on experience of managing conflict in workplace environments, high level of resilience to challenging situations, and experience of working with trade unions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including influencing and negotiation skills.
- IT proficiency, including the use of MS Office packages to an intermediate level.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
Salary and Details for the Employee Relations Officer role:
- c£27.50 per hour
- Temporary, full-time role, starting immediately and due to last for 2 months, possibly extending.
- Role is based in Central London, with provision for working remotely for part of the week.
