I am recruiting a CCAB qualified accountant with extensive experience leading and developing finance functions in the NHS for a 6 to 12 month fixed term contract. As Deputy Director of Finance & Procurement, you will be accountable to the Chief Finance Officer and take responsibility for leading and motivating the Finance and Procurement teams ensuring there is a culture of high performance, strong engagement, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

The duties of the role will include:

  • Leading the annual business planning and budgeting cycle, producing the annual financial plan in line with the strategy.
  • Developing and delivering the financial management strategies.
  • Ensuring that there is a robust financial control environment, along with the provision of high quality operational finance services.
  • Leading the strategic management and direction of internal audit and counter fraud arrangements for the organisation.
  • Managing the delivery of the annual accounts and contributing analysis and insight that will be of value to the readers of our annual report.
  • Leading the provision of procurement services, ensuring deliver of value for money through commercial arrangements, and compliance with delegated authorities and controls on third party expenditure.
  • Driving improvement in the delivery of services and contributing to the implementation of policy and other changes affecting operations.

This role requires and experienced qualified accountant with a number of years experience working at a senior level and leading and developing teams. You will also have a strong understanding of NHS operations and be able to lead change programmes.

The role is being offered on a fixed term basis of 6 to 12 months and at Band 8D (circa £95,000 to £110,000). The post is based in London with hybrid working patterns.
