Douglas Scott are on the look out for an excellent and proactive and self-motivated Legal Finance Manager / Head of Accounts to join our leading client at their office in London.

This role is perfect for a Finance Manager or Head of Accounts who has previous experience working within a similar role inside a law firm.

The Role:

  • Overseeing and managing the day-to-day accounting and legal cashier operations within the finance team
  • Supervising accounts team, training them, monitoring their performance/activities, allocating tasks and providing guidance and support as needed
  • Preparing monthly management accounts and KPIs 
  • Budgeting / forecasting / cash flow management
  • Monitoring income and expenditure against budgets
  • Preparing monthly cash flow reports actual and forecast   
  • Preparing and posting monthly journals for accruals, prepayments, payroll etc
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Client and Office bank reconciliations and month-end procedures
  • Processing client to office transfers
  • Posting office account entries and suppliers’ invoices onto Xero
  • Preparing and filing VAT returns through Making Tax Digital
  • Completing and processing monthly Payroll, paying PAYE/NI
  • Support the senior management team with any specific analysis and queries
  • Dealing with daily queries from partners, legal staff and secretaries
  • Managing the SAR audits and accounts review
  • Liaising with the bank and HMRC

The Candidate:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in finance within a law firm is essential
  • Recent experience working under SRA Solicitors Accounts Rules in a law firm is essential 
  • Attention to details and accuracy 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
