We are seeking an Interim Finance Director for a 6-month position with a university based in London.
Key Responsibilities:Strategic Financial Leadership:
- Provide strategic financial leadership and direction for the institution.
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support the institution's goals and objectives.
- Advise senior management and the board on financial planning, budgeting, and policy matters.
Financial Management and Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
- Ensure compliance with educational accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor financial performance and provide insights to support decision-making.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads.
- Develop financial forecasts and long-term financial plans.
- Monitor budget performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the institution's assets.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
- Ensure effective collaboration and communication within the finance team and across departments.
Financial Systems and Processes:
- Enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial systems and processes.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of financial software and tools.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial data entry and reporting.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent the institution in financial matters with external partners, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
- Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as required.
