Operations Manager (HR and Finance) - Interim - 6 Month Contract

Cedar Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Operations Manager to work for one of the UK'sleading Educational Institutes in London.

The role is working on an interim basis for 6 months and will be hybrid working with 2-3 days in the office.

The role is offering a rate of £27.00-£33.00 per hour Inside IR35.

Main Duties:

  • The role will be to manage the operational support team, ensuring a efficient delivery of all support services.
  • Provide management information to various stakeholders within the institute
  • To ensure the Centre you are working with as a customer, obtains an efficient and effective service
  • Manage any adhoc or scheduled projects, as guided by the Director of Operations, as per the operational needs of the department
  • Manage and develop 5 direct reports including managing their overall performance, give feedback and hold appraisal meetings
  • Working with colleagues to ensure that staff are well managed , motivated and have opportunities for growth
  • To ensure that processes are in place to support the welfare of students
  • Organise high profile meetings and events with the partner institutions such as External Advisory Boards, at both national and international level HR and staffing
  • Respond to and handle HR queries, policy or people matters
  • Communicate HR best practice and changes that will impact through appropriate channels and activities where necessary.
  • Coordinate the end-to-end recruitment process on behalf of hiring managers, from role scoping to on boarding and ensuring compliance throughout
  • Liaise with Finance and Research teams regarding funding agreements to ensure they are in place.
  • Review job descriptions and ensure standardisation across JDs in line with approvals process
  • Ensuring all HR activity and processes such as payments, contract requests, and leavers are processed accurately and meet deadlines, personally processing and approving transactions as required

Finance:

  • To support the Director and Finance Officer to set budgets, monitor the current year expenditure and communicate positions within the Centre to ensure that annual financial performance targets are met.
  • Liaise with funding bodies, sponsors, suppliers and UCL service providers to ensure maximisation of the departments funds.
  • Co-ordinate the annual budgeting cycle and prepare budgetary submissions
  • Support the Director and Senior Research Administrator to ensure maximisation of the research funds.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience of working with a HR/Operational role with exposure to day to day Finance duties
  • Experience of working within an Educational Institute (Higher Education preferred)
  • Previous experience of managing and leading teams
