Our client is seeking a highly knowledgeable Risk and Control Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join their dynamic Business Change and Governance Team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal part in ensuring effective oversight and compliance within the Corporate and Institutional Banking Front Office. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing risk, enhancing governance frameworks, and driving change initiatives. This position is based in London.

What you'll do:

As a Risk and Control SME, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the Corporate and Institutional Banking Front Office operates with effective oversight and compliance. You will be tasked with identifying risks and issues while delivering activities to mitigate these risks. Your role will also involve managing Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) framework activities while monitoring and enhancing controls. You will have the opportunity to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of governance frameworks. Additionally, you will oversee cross-functional governance processes while ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and standards.

  • Identify risks and issues, deliver activities to mitigate risks and close issues
  • Manage Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) framework activities, monitor and enhance controls
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of governance frameworks
  • Oversee cross-functional governance processes, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and standards
  • Manage the Front Office Supervisory Committee (FOSC), ensuring it provides effective oversight
  • Provide expert advice on governance matters, positioning the bank to respond to internal and external changes and audits
  • Serve as a key point of contact for governance matters, liaising with senior leaders, risk management, compliance, legal, and other support functions
  • Promote a culture of integrity, accountability, and transparency across the organisation
