CDM Principal Designer - London

Based in London, they are a dynamic and knowledgeable team having procured, designed and modernised a diverse range of buildings, bringing practical solutions and consistently good service.

The RoleWe are seeking a CDM Principal Designer to join a multidisciplinary team working on a range of sectors but predominantly residential and healthcare. You will collaborate closely with clients, consultants, and internal teams, managing projects from feasibility through to contractor appointment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing detailed construction packs, including general arrangements, setting out, sections, and elevations.
  • Reviewing potential sites for feasibility and design compatibility.
  • Liaising with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to address site-specific issues, such as Building Regulations, M&E design, and fire strategy.
  • Managing the production and submission of planning drawings and legal design documents.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting design challenges with innovative solutions.

Skills and RequirementsTo excel in this role, you will need:

  • Advanced skills in AutoCAD and Revit (essential).
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK Building Regulations and construction principles, particularly in the retail sector.
  • Proven experience in producing detailed construction packs from feasibility to completion.
  • Strong client-facing skills and the ability to meet strict targets and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in IT tools, including Microsoft Office, SketchUp, and Photoshop.
