We are assisting a leading banking organisation based in London and they are looking to recruit an experienced Head of HR.

Hybrid working - 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

This role would be ideal for a seasoned Head of HR looking for a new opportunity, or an experienced Senior HR Manager looking to progress their career.

It is essential that candidates have proven experience within the banking industry (or similar) and have experience with SMCR and MIFID II.

The focus of the role will be to lead and oversee HR governance and align human resources management with the business’s overall vision, strategy, and values. This will incorporate hands on involvement with operational and strategic HR, whilst leading on various HR projects and HR initiatives. Key duties and responsibilities will include;

  • Reporting into the UK MD and Global CEO and working with the executive team on strategic and operational HR matters
  • Provide and establish a proactive HR approach to align organisational policies, regulatory and compliance requirements and ensuring HR best practice within the branch.
  • Establish a proactive HR approach to mitigating compliance and operational risks, by implementing and streamlining effective HR Handbooks, HR Guidelines, HR policies and processors, and ensuring HR best practice that is compliant within organisation and regulatory requirements
  • Review and improve current HR and Payroll systems and processors
  • Act as a compliance lead, responsible for internal audits, ensure procedures are adhered to as guided by regulatory and organisational standards, maintenance of HR documents/trackers and monitor completion of mandatory regulatory training for employees
  • Assume responsibility for the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR) for all SMF’s, Material Risk Takers & Certified Persons
  • Develop quality and control systems to ensure consistent and compliant HR practices, introducing governance and auditing of HR processes.
  • Provide technical HR advice and consultancy to ensure managers have the tools and information required to manage their people effectively at all stages of the employee lifecycle, including ER and performance management
  • Provide coaching and advice to managers on a range of people matters to provide risk-based options that have a commercial focus
  • Lead on key HR initiatives including Diversity and Inclusion, Organisational Design, Equality, Change Management, Talent Management and Reward
  • Design and lead on L&D and Training initiatives to ensure HR compliance and governance within the branch
  • Keep abreast and led on the roll out of mandatory training and compliance requirements for relevant staff.
  • Deputise for the HR Operations lead and assist with operational areas of HR, payroll, and recruitment activities when necessary
  • Review and recommend on the reward offering of the business, including providing benchmark data on remuneration and benefits, supporting management with the annual salary review and bonus processes etc
  • Provide and interpret HR metrics and data, analysing and identifying key trends to support line manager capability and overall branch performance

For this role candidates will need to have proven experience at this level, including strategic, operational HR and Projects. Ideally candidates will be CIPD Qualified and will need to have experience working within a regulatory environment i.e. Banking, Investments, Finance, Financial Services (FSA regulated and experience with SMCR).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role, as you will be a key member of the senior team.
