Reinsurance Technician

(London/Home working)

The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Reinsurance Technician to join our Reinsurance Operations team on a full-time permanent basis. With global exposure across complex reinsurance programs, broad risks and multi-line products this role will partner across the business gaining a variety of exposure.

Your Role:

Reporting to a Reinsurance team leader, you will be responsible for the recording and collection of all balances relating to proportional reinsurances in the European Operations division, building and developing relationships with brokers and reinsurers and ensuring that QBE meets its obligations in respect of this important area.You will be part of a team that is split between the UK and USA, with an offshore function based in the Philippines.

  • Prepare and record in the source RI system monthly and quarterly Quota Share reinsurance transactions according to terms set forth in treaties. 
  • Liaise with brokers and reinsurers to resolve queries relating to claims recoveries..
  • Liaise with claims team to obtain and understand loss reports for reinsurance recoveries..
  • Working alongside the Fac team, calculate potential reinsurance implications for large claim movements.
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of a new reinsurance system.
  • Enter RI policies on internal reinsurance systems ensuring premiums are paid in a timely manner. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, specifically Re-insurers, Brokers, Underwriters and Claims Teams.
  • Work closely with the credit control team to ensure timely receipt of recoveries and allocation of cash..
  • Perform peer review for tasks completed by the Offshore reinsurance team.
  • Capture and peer review cover note information on reinsurance systems to ensure that all correct details are logged.
  • Maintain and develop high standards of service.

About You:

  • Reinsurance experience
  • A high level of numeracy and literacy with proven organizational and analytical skills
  • Able to determine own work priorities and activities in line with agreed plans to ensure the achievement of personal and team objectives; adaptable to changing priorities
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to analyse large volumes of data for decision-making with advanced Excel (but not to macro level)
  • Knowledge of Duck Creek Reinsurance, Alteryx experience would be advantageous but not essential to the right candidate.
