Job Advert: School Receptionist - SEN/SEMH School (Lambeth)

Are you an organized, friendly, and professional individual looking to make a meaningful contribution in an educational setting? We are seeking a dedicated School Receptionist to join our team at a Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) school based in Lambeth.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the smooth running of the school, supporting staff, students, and parents while working in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Position Details:

  • Location: Lambeth
  • Pay: £11-£15 per hour (depending on experience and school)
  • Contract: Full-time, term-time only
  • Requirements:
    • Clear Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
    • Previous school-based experience is desirable

Key Responsibilities:As the first point of contact for the school, your role will include:

  • Front Desk Management: Welcoming visitors, staff, and students in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Communication: Handling telephone calls, emails, and correspondence efficiently and courteously.
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate student records, attendance registers, and staff schedules.
  • Administrative Support: Assisting with general administrative tasks, including filing, photocopying, and data entry.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensuring all visitors sign in and comply with safeguarding procedures.
  • Staff Support: Providing administrative assistance to teaching and support staff as required.
  • Student Support: Assisting students and liaising with parents and carers to support their needs.
  • Office Supplies: Monitoring and ordering office and stationery supplies.
  • Event Coordination: Supporting the organization of school events, meetings, and parent evenings.
  • Confidentiality: Handling sensitive information with discretion and in line with GDPR regulations.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience working in a school or educational environment is highly desirable
  • Understanding of SEN/SEMH settings is advantageous
