Company Overview:Our client are a growing start-up bank in the heart of London, committed to reshaping the banking experience. As they scale operations, they are now looking for a dynamic and experienced HR Manager/Head of HR to lead the people strategy and build a strong, performance-driven culture.

Role Overview:The Head of HR will be responsible for leading the HR function, implementing HR policies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks. This is a pivotal role for a candidate with a strong background in financial services HR, specifically with in-depth knowledge of the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) regulations and SM&CR (Senior Managers & Certification Regime). The successful candidate will work closely with the executive team to align HR strategies with business objectives, foster a positive workplace culture, and support the growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the business goals of the start-up bank.
  • Ensure the bank is fully compliant with FCA regulations and the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SM&CR).
  • Lead recruitment efforts to attract top talent for all levels of the organization.
  • Provide advice on employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary matters.
  • Oversee compensation, benefits, and reward strategies.
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives and build a high-performance culture.
  • Develop and manage HR policies and procedures.
  • Advise senior leadership on HR issues and provide strategic input into business decisions.
  • Support the development and delivery of training programs to ensure regulatory compliance and professional growth.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Head of HR or HR Business Partner, ideally within a financial services or banking environment.
  • Strong knowledge of FCA regulations and SM&CR requirements.
  • In-depth understanding of HR best practices, employee relations, and talent management.
  • Experience in managing HR compliance within a regulated industry.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior management.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • CIPD qualification (or equivalent) preferred but not essential.
