MLC Partners are recruiting on behalf of a client for an experienced and dedicated Human Resources Officer to join their HR team in London. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive environment, providing critical support across all areas of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, HR administration, and employee relations. You will be responsible for ensuring HR processes run efficiently and effectively, acting as the first point of contact for dedicated academic schools and administrative departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment: Oversee recruitment processes, including drafting job descriptions, advertising roles internally and externally, shortlisting candidates, organising interviews, issuing offers and contracts, and conducting right to work, CEST, and reference checks.
  • On-boarding & Contractual Changes: Issue new contracts of employment, monitor probation periods, track expiring contracts, and process contract changes for payroll.
  • Visa Compliance: Work with the HR Manager to ensure compliance with immigration regulations, manage visa renewals, and oversee visa sponsorship for recruitment.
  • Grievance & Disciplinary: Take notes at disciplinary and grievance meetings, assist with issues, and liaise with third-party HR/legal advisors when required.
  • HR Record Keeping: Maintain and update employee records, ensuring HR files are accurate and up to date.
  • Policies & Processes: Contribute to developing and updating HR policies, the Employee Handbook, and improving current HR processes.
  • General HR Administration: Assist with sick leave, parental leave, annual leave, and manage reference and tenancy requests. Support internal/external training sessions and assist with HR projects.

Person Specification

  • Educated to graduate level or working towards a CIPD qualification
  • Significant experience in HR administration, grievance/disciplinary processes, and visa compliance
  • Proven track record in a similar HR role
  • Strong IT, communication, and organisational skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Knowledge and experience of GDPR compliance
  • Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills
  • Someone who is able to complete manual HR process'
  • Higher Education/Charity background

Working hours: 10 - 6pm

Hybrid: 3 in and 2 from home
