This is a hugely exciting time for Ageas – we are expanding and have a variety of roles available across motor and household product lines roles in Insurance Underwriting.Our Insurance Underwriting teams are looking to bring on board fresh and dynamic Insurance Underwriters to join their busy Household, Motor and Strategic teams!The Underwriters will be working closely with the pricing and distribution teams and will be supporting the development of a multi-year approach and delivering a tightly managed renewal process. Through this development they will be responsible for the implementation of new concepts, managing our rate strength and strengthening our year to year understanding of risk.The Insurance Underwriters will have strong market knowledge and intelligence.  Strong numeracy and communication skills are an absolute must for this role to be able to gather, interpret and present segmentation information to numerous stakeholders internally and externally.

Main responsibilities:

  • To review the underwriting acceptance rules and documentation and make underwriting changes/recommendations, as appropriate, to deliver profitable performance and optimise profitable growth.
  • To recommend new underwriting concepts, product covers and documentation by utilising market / legal / competitor analysis.
  • To work alongside the Pricing team by recommending new enhancements or alterations to pricing or underwriting criteria.
  • Take responsibility for our Underwriting Footprint to broaden our competitive footprint across the broker portfolio.
  • Key Liaison point with brokers, partners, external service providers and internal Sales, Claims and other management teams.

The successful Underwriters will have the following:

  • A sound understanding of underwriting and pricing principles and experience of a wide range of technical issues affecting the Insurance Market.
  • A very high degree of numeracy with a strong ability to analyse and interpret large quantities of data.
  • Excellent skills in explaining, both internally and externally to key business partners, the interpretation of policy wordings, underwriting decisions and the outcome of audits.
  • Ability to work with people at all levels, internally and externally.
  • Confident decision-maker who exhibits a willingness to take responsibility.
  • Ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines, managing multiple work streams and stakeholders.
