Role Overview:This position involves managing and optimising clients' delegated authority schemes to ensure their success and profitability. You excel at taking initiative and fostering collaboration among internal and external stakeholders to drive mutual growth. The role offers hybrid working.Key Responsibilities:
- Broker Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with a designated panel of brokers, taking ownership of generating profitable business opportunities.
- Scheme Development and Analysis:
- Work closely with partner brokers, underwriting, and operations teams to:
- Regularly review scheme performance.
- Identify growth opportunities and ways to enhance propositions and profitability.
- Improve operational efficiencies.
- Performance Improvement:
- Investigate poorly performing accounts, analyse high loss ratios, and implement corrective measures in collaboration with senior underwriters.
Strategic Planning:
- Contribute to the department's strategic goals, including setting budgets, KPIs, and aligning activities with the development plan.
Account Servicing:
- Ensure timely servicing and debiting of accounts, supporting credit control with premium collections when necessary.
Team Development:
- Support junior team members by offering guidance, supervision, and acting as a technical underwriting referral point.
Reporting and Audits:
- Analyse and present management information for internal and external meetings.
- Participate in binder renewal meetings and present proposals to the Underwriting Committee.
- Conduct coverholder audits, prepare reports, and ensure follow-up on recommendations.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Assist in reviewing and updating policy wordings, binding authority agreements, and other relevant business documentation. Ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards for coverholders.
Market Insights and Feedback:
- Provide updates on competitor activities, market conditions, and trends to enhance the company's product, pricing, and service offerings.
Additional Duties:
- Draft and implement run-off plans for terminated schemes and support underwriting management in updating business guides, rating structures, and other terms as required.
Requirements:
- Essential Skills and Experience:
- Experience managing delegated authority accounts, preferably with an insurer or MGA.
- Proven expertise in relationship management, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective negotiation skills with the ability to empathise and influence.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, capable of meeting deadlines.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the UK insurance market, underwriting practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficient in analysing data and generating reports.
- Competence in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree-level education or equivalent, with CII qualifications preferred.
- Advanced Excel proficiency.
- Confident presentation skills.
