Investment Specialist

Ref: TY46043A Japanese organisation based in London is seeking an Investment Specialist for Japanese business.

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting investment in Japan by attracting mainly British & European companies with innovative technologies and products in the fields of sustainability, digital transformation, and deep tech.

A strong reading ability in Japanese is required in addition to totally fluent English. Additional experience of living in Japan and/or working in a Japanese corporate office, and/or knowledge of Japanese business culture would be beneficial.

TYPE: Temporary, full-timeWORKING HOURS: Monday to Friday, 9:30 -17:30 with 1 hour lunch break SALARY: £16.29 per hour (£30k equivalent per year), plus holiday pay (your holiday allowance will increase from the 13th week)START: from mid-November to the end of March 2025 (with the strong possibility of renewal at the end of March each year)LOCATION: City of London (5 days office work)

Investment Specialist Main Responsibilities:

• Listing of promising companies (target companies) interested in investing in Japan
• Approaching target companies through various means such as participating in exhibitions, conferences, networking events, and approaching via cold mail, LinkedIn and other SNS, getting referrals from local support agencies, etc.)
• Provide consultation on FDI in Japan to target companies (research, proposals, responding to enquiries, taking minutes, follow-up, case management, etc., in cooperation with the staff from Japan HQs
• Supporting business matching for target companies
• Following up on existing cases, managing information, and monitoring performance
• Networking with relevant organizations in each country to identify target companies
• Planning and assistance for pitch events/reverse pitch events for the purpose of identifying target companies and matching collaborative partnerships
• Liaison and coordination with Japan HQs
• Handling ad-hoc tasks as required

Investment Specialist Ideal Candidate:

• Totally fluent in English (both written and spoken),
• Thorough understanding of social, cultural, and business practices in the UK,
• Japanese language is adventurous
• Industrial knowledge and practical experience in sustainability, digital, or Deeptech fields would be advantageous
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
