We are currently in partnership with a London Borough who are recruiting for a Head of Law (Procurement and Information Governance) on a three-four-month temporary contract.
This is a London-based position with 3 days in the office per week, on a full-time contract of 35 hours per week. This organisation is offering a negotiable rate dependent on experience.
The primary purpose of the role is to oversee a specialist legal team of around 10 lawyers, with no specific caseload. Advising on high level procurement law and escalated cases.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Providing high level legal advice to elected members, including full council, cabinet committees and others across the shared
- Leading, managing and developing the shared legal service in accordance with the other authorities’ policies and procedures
- Acting as Deputy Monitoring Officer as required for one or more of the shared Councils
- Deputising for the managing director as and when required
- Developing strategies for bringing in new business
- Managing a team including Deputy Head of Law, Principal lawyers, Senior lawyers, as well as lawyers and paralegals
Experience required:
- Working for a local government, preferably a London Borough
- Solicitor Barrister, FILEX, or similar legal qualification and authorised to conduct legal work
Working hours:
- Full time (35 hours a week)
- Monday to Friday
- Three days in the office
