Locum Planning and Highways Lawyer

£50-55 per hour umbrella

6 month initial period with possibility for extension

35 hours per week, fully remote, no committees

Are you a passionate and experienced Planning and Highways Lawyer? Venn Group is working with a fantastic local authority in the South East of England in their search for a Planning and Highways Lawyer on a locum basis for an initial 6-month period, with the potential for extension depending on performance, project needs and permanent recruitment.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Lawyer, with a valid practising certificate in the UK
  • Specialism within Planning Law, with experience of practising post-qualification
  • Experience working within local authorities, or for a public sector organisation

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Showing a competence towards IT and technology due to the remote nature of this position
  • Showing a comprehensive understanding and experience of managing planning and highways cases, including planning agreements, drafting and negotiating highways, rights of ways etc
  • Strong and up to date knowledge of legislation relevant to the role
  • Advising on all areas of Planning Law, including rural and suburban planning
  • Mentoring and training less experienced team members
  • Deputising for heads of legal and other principal lawyers when necessary
