Title: Practice Development Specialist

Location: London
Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:30am - 5:30pm

Hybrid: 3 days in/2 from home

Purpose:

Ryder Reid Legal is recruiting for a Practice Development Specialist to join one of our prestigious, global law firm clients on a permanent, hybrid working basis at their London office. You will collaborate with the wider team to support the Capital Markets practice group. Your focus will be on managing knowledge sharing initiatives, research, and information services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Practice Development Lawyer and Manager to deliver services supporting the Capital Markets and related corporate practice groups.
  • Maintain and update knowledge tools and repositories (iManage, SharePoint) to ensure content is current and relevant.
  • Work with the global Knowledge Solutions team to develop and maintain knowledge channels, facilitating access to expertise.
  • Support internal training activities by preparing materials and delivering presentations to trainees, new joiners, and staff.
  • Act as a point of contact for enquiries on the firm's precedent and know-how.
  • Collaborate with other professional support functions such as Library & Information Services, Business Development, and Learning and Development.
  • Gather end-user feedback to inform practice group programs and overall firm initiatives.
  • Conduct substantive and non-substantive legal research to support practice groups.
  • Monitor legal and market developments to maintain current awareness programs.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in technology and highly computer literate.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of working with individuals at varying levels of seniority and expertise.
  • Proactive, flexible, and able to take ownership of tasks.
  • Organized with a keen eye for detail.

Experience:

  • 2-4 years' experience in a legal research or professional services organization.
  • Preferred experience in a global legal organization.
  • Familiarity with practice support, information services, research, and knowledge management.
  • Interest in knowledge management, research, and innovation.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
