Senior Mechanical Engineer needed for a well known facilities management organisation based in Chelsea - London who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Senior Mechanical Engineer that takes pride in their work with an in-depth knowledge of working on mechanical systems such as Pumps, AHUs, HVAC, and basic Electrical systems.

The successful candidate must have a technical background with an HNC/HND/Foundation Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field is highly advantageous. If you have previous experience in hospital/life sciences that would be a plus!

What the role entails:

Some of the main duties of the Senior Mechanical Engineer will include:

  • Supervise and monitor sub-contractors to ensure tasks are completed to the highest standards.
  • Produce detailed shift reports, documenting significant works and developments on-site.
  • Manage and resolve reactive tasks efficiently, ensuring plant faults are swiftly addressed and equipment remains serviceable.
  • Maintain up-to-date shift logs and ensure all paperwork for PPM, reactive works, and breakdowns is accurate and submitted promptly.
  • Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments to ensure safe working practices at all times.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams, ensuring the professional image of the company is upheld.
  • Support compliance with contractual KPIs/SLA's and ensure the provision of a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Proactively contribute to improving site processes and plant efficiency.
  • Take ownership of the Permit to Work system, ensuring tasks are completed in accordance with safety standards.

What experience you need to be the successful Senior Mechanical Engineer:

  • A technical background with an HNC/HND/Foundation Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field is highly advantageous.
  • Apprenticeship in mechanical maintenance desirable; previous experience in hospital/life sciences is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems such as Pumps, AHUs, HVAC, and basic Electrical systems.
  • Experience with CAFMs and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
  • A flexible approach to work, with the ability to step in for holiday and sickness cover when needed.
  • Must possess a clear and calm mindset in high-pressure situations, with a keen focus on Health & Safety and Sustainability.
