Your new companyI am delighted to be working with a prestigious research institution in a vital role within the CEO's office. I am currently recruiting for a Head of Strategy (Governance) on a 6-month temp contract, paying circa £550/day. There is scope for this role to go permanently. The overall purpose of the role is to act as the main point of contact for the CEO's office on decision-making and governance, ensuring effective agenda setting and communication across the advisory groups and committees.
Your new roleThe successful candidate will be:
- Driving the effective operation of the management committees, advisory groups, and discussion forums, through curating strategically focused agendas, overseeing documentation of decisions, tracking the delivery of action items, and facilitating implementation.
- Spearheading the development of the board's meeting agendas and working in partnership with the Legal Team to ensure the smooth running of Board meetings that support the Board's objectives and CEO's priorities.
- Translating strategic goals and objectives into forward planning for management committees and advisory groups.
- Advising senior executives in their decision-making as a group, ensuring that the right decisions are taken at the right time with accurate and high-quality evidence to support them.
- Managing challenging conversations and competing priorities sensitively with key stakeholders, influencing and negotiating in a thoughtful way that continues to drive the results prioritised by the CEO.
- Overseeing CEO-mandated time-limited taskforces and ensuring delivery and feedback loops to senior executives.
- Managing the work of the Committee Coordinator to ensure timely, high-quality, and user-friendly outputs that enable productive management committees.
What you'll need to succeedThis position is suitable for someone who:
- Has experience delivering key projects/pieces of work to a high standard within tight deadlines.
- Can work on multiple pieces of work across stakeholder groups.
- Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Is experienced in working with the most senior officials in a large organisation.
- Can build trust and credibility with senior stakeholders and manage relationships (and build influence) with a range of junior and senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Has proven ability in long-term planning, aligned to strategic goals, delivering key outcomes and results.
- Is experienced in governance, governance legislation, and governance best practices (desirable).
