Year 1 Teacher – Primary School Supply – South London – Up to £180 to £260 a day

Flexible | Competitive Pay | Supportive School Community

Are you an experienced and passionate Key Stage 1 teacher ready to make a real impact? We’re looking for a dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive South London primary school that’s on an exciting journey of improvement.

About The Role:

This is a long-term role (with the possibility of becoming permanent) for a  Year 1 Teacher to join a small Year 1 class of just 16 children. You’ll be supported by a full-time, experienced teaching assistant and work closely with the Assistant Head to ensure the best possible outcomes for pupils.

This position is ideal for a Year 1 Teacher with strong phonics knowledge, particularly Read Write Inc, and experience supporting children with SEN and challenging behaviour.

We’re looking for someone confident, consistent, and nurturing – with the ability to raise phonics attainment ahead of the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check in June.

You Will:

  • Lead teaching in a small Year 1 class with diverse learning needs

  • Deliver effective phonics instruction using Read Write Inc (or similar SSP)

  • Build strong relationships with pupils and manage behaviour positively

  • Work closely with support staff and leadership to meet children’s needs

  • Play a key role in accelerating pupil progress in early literacy.

About The School:

This inclusive South London school is part of a well-established Multi Academy Trust and is on a clear journey of improvement, with a recent Ofsted rating of ‘Good’ in all areas. The school provides:

  • A collaborative environment with a SaLT hub, SEMH provision, and excellent classroom facilities

  • An aligned curriculum that streamlines planning and supports creative delivery

  • An enhanced CPD programme, including weekly sessions led by the headteacher (NPQLTD), instructional coaching, and regular staff meetings

  • A leadership team committed to staff wellbeing, inclusion, and high-impact teaching.

About You:

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Year 1 Teacher who is experienced working in Key Stage 1, and also:

  • Holds QTS or QTLS

  • Has strong knowledge of phonics and ideally Read Write Inc (RWI)

  • Is confident managing a class with SEN and behavioural needs

  • Uses a calm, consistent, and nurturing approach

  • Can create an engaging learning environment tailored to individual needs

  • Is happy to work collaboratively and be supported by leadership and a TA

  • Has an Enhanced DBS Disclosure and the legal right to work in the UK
