Commercial Manager - Assurance

Supporting the Commercial Assurance Lead and is the link between the asset teams and Project Controls for all reporting requirements.

Excellent communication and customer facing skills are a must, along with working as part of a team promoting our company culture and values. Will consider problems as a challenge, collect information relevant to the problem, be disciplined in ascertaining the root cause, identify and develop a practical solution, communicate the findings and implement action to resolve the problem.

Key Responsibilities

•              Support the asset team in the production of Monthly reporting data and liaising with the Project Control Team. Attend the Project wide reporting for all assets and making sure there is a standard set of slides across the assets. Working with the Project control team to submit the Project wide reporting up the line.

•              Leading the monthly cost and performance reviews for each of the assets as well as organising and manging the POAP (Margin) meeting for Area East.

•              Development of the East Specific Cost and performance reporting and tracking as well as leading the Weekly labour and plant reviews for the assets.

•              Support the asset teams in the 6-monthly production of the BUF as defined under the Contract, making sure we are in line with the Core for BUF Production.

•              Challenge the assets in how they are producing their BUF especially when it comes to labour and plant forecasts and getting these approved through the right channels.

•              Key is to support the assets to make sure we are getting the right format and information ready for the BUF to be brought together in the whole Project BUF.

•              Liaise with Core on the issue and format of the BUF and issue to Core for issue to Hs2.

•              Liaising with the asset teams in relation to the 3 monthly AfP and its production, challenge, and issue to Core for issue to Hs2.

•              Leading the disallowed cost register and the management of the disallowed costs with Hs2 and the challenge of this back to Hs2 using the Contract.

•              Management of the Staff organograms and ATR’s related to these roles and the co-ordination of this against the staff budget.

•              Leading the Co-ordination of the Cost Verification Framework and liaising with core in relation to this and getting the data from the assets to answer any queries on the CVF.

•              Lead the risk drawdown process with Project Controls. Also Lead the Budget management of overall budget and the draw down for ICE’s and risk.

Required qualifications, skills, behaviours and attributes

•              RICS/CICES accredited Degree (or equivalent)

•              Full Membership of RICS or CICES (or equivalent)

•              Post-graduate commercial experience in the construction industry with demonstrable track record of achievement

•              Demonstrable financial and commercial acumen

•              Extensive experience of drafting effective contractual correspondence and the facilitation of collaborative solutions

•              Demonstrable legal, contractual and construction knowledge and experience

•              Experience in implementing and delivering strategic objectives and associated change programmes

•              Confidence and ability to assert influence

•              A creative, strategic and innovative approach to problem-solving
