Recruit 121 are excited to be working with an award winning fintech business based in London who are looking for a Head of Compliance to join their growing team.

The Head of Compliance reporting into the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of regulatory compliance and identifying and developing opportunities afforded by regulatory change. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance programmes to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. The Head of Compliance will work closely with senior management to promote a culture of ethical behaviour and integrity throughout the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compliance Programme Development: Design and implement comprehensive compliance programmes that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Policy and Procedure Management: Develop, update, and administer internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards. Deliver planned and ad-hoc reviews to test and assure the effectiveness of internal controls, including compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential compliance vulnerabilities and implement corrective action plans as necessary.   • Regulatory Monitoring: Stay abreast of changes in relevant laws and regulations, ensuring that the company's compliance programmes are updated accordingly.
  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver compliance training programmes to employees, fostering a culture of compliance and ethical behaviour.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present compliance reports to senior management and regulatory bodies as required. Manage and maintain FCA registers and reporting.
  • Incident Management: Oversee investigations into compliance issues and coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries or audits.
  • Collaboration: Being a great ambassador for the second line of defence, partnering to provide support and challenge to the first line.
  • Culture: Supporting a culture of delivering great consumer outcomes and efficient and effective risk and compliance management

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., JD, MBA, CCEP, CAMS) is highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a role within the financial services industry.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements applicable to financial institutions in the UK, including data protection laws and anti-money laundering regulations.
  • Skills: Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills; ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into actionable policies and procedures.
  • Competencies: The ability to take a pragmatic/commercial approach in understanding and applying regulatory requirements. Good relationship management and diplomacy skills to deal effectively with stakeholders including senior personnel, who may have potentially conflicting priorities. Enthusiastic for new challenges, capable of demonstrating judgment and decision making and understands when to escalate issues.

This is a remote role but you will be required to attend meetings in London therefore need to be UK based. No overseas applications please.
