Job Purpose / Overview:

Reporting directly to the Head of Nuclear Compliance, Audit, and Performance Improvement (HoNCAPI), the Quality Assurance Manager within the Safety, Security, and Assurance (SS&A) directorate will bring extensive expertise in Quality Assurance processes to the SZC Client organisation. Operating within the ‘3 Lines of Defence' model, you will be responsible for developing and directing departmental plans that ensure optimal resource utilisation and robust policy formation in the areas of quality assurance and Information Management Systems.

In this role, you will provide expert advice and support to the business on quality assurance systems, with a particular focus on the Project Delivery Organisation, which will implement quality processes on behalf of the client. Working independently with minimal guidance, especially in complex situations, you will utilise your strong interpersonal skills and experience to influence senior-level decisions effectively.

A critical aspect of this role involves managing the interface with the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR), fostering an open, honest, and efficient relationship to ensure the projects timely delivery while meeting all quality and regulatory requirements.

You will have significant latitude in decision-making, guided by resource availability and functional objectives in consultation with the Head of Function. Your contributions will span project management, financial performance oversight, and input into planning and policy development.

The Quality Assurance Manager will oversee several key processes, including:

Defining and implementing the policy and strategy for Sizewell C's Quality Management and Assurance, including the Non-Conformance Process and tools.
Creating and executing the SS&A Quality Assurance programme and supporting the Integrated Assurance Plan.
Leading and managing the 2nd Line Quality Assurance resources, including reviewing their outputs.
Managing the interface and relationship with Regulators (principally ONR) concerning Quality Assurance across all organisational levels.
Ensuring audit findings are agreed upon and recorded, leading to the timely resolution of identified shortfalls.
Monitoring outcomes of Quality Assurance activities, providing updates on performance and trends to relevant forums.
Overseeing the delivery, execution, and maintenance of relevant processes, including document review and continuous improvement in response to learning and experience.
Ensuring the Sizewell C strategy and guidance enable the organisation to achieve certification in international standards, including ISO9001, 14001, and 45001.
Contributing to the planning and management of the Safety Directorate's budget, including team performance, development, and departmental risk management.
Serving as an escalation point for quality-related issues within the Project Delivery Organisation, offering assistance with specific challenges as they arise.
Managing team resources, including accountability for administrative matters such as budgeting, resourcing, training, nuclear baseline compliance, and health & safety.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

Essential:

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage credibly within and external to the business.
Proven experience in leading and managing teams.
Ability to influence and drive behavioural change across various organisational levels.
Expert knowledge of Quality Systems, including ISO 9001, ISO 19443, ISO 14001, and related processes such as ISO 45001, GSR-2/3.
Strong presentation and communication skills, capable of engaging at multiple organisational levels and with external regulatory stakeholders.
A decisive and credible decision-maker, able to instil confidence through well-crafted justifications and arguments.

Degree-qualified in an engineering or science-related discipline, or equivalent.
Extensive experience in leading teams.
In-depth knowledge of the UK regulatory environment.
Significant experience in regulatory and external stakeholder engagement.
Experience within the nuclear industry, with PWR design and operational experience preferred.
