Higher Level Teaching Assistant

A wonderful primary school in Barnet is seeking a dedicated and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their vibrant and supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for education and experience in supporting pupils to make a real difference to the learning and development of children at our school.
Role Overview:
In the mornings, you will be working closely with Year 6 pupils, leading interventions to support their academic progress and helping manage their behaviour in the classroom. Your role will be instrumental in enhancing the learning experience for our pupils, ensuring that they achieve their full potential.
In the afternoons, you will act as a Cover Supervisor, stepping in to lead classes across different year groups when a teacher is absent. You will provide effective classroom management and support the pupils in their learning, ensuring a smooth and productive environment in the absence of the class teacher.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering interventions for Year 6 students, focusing on targeted support for both academic progress and behavioural needs.
- Providing individual and group support to help children achieve their learning goals.
- Managing behaviour effectively and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Acting as a Cover Supervisor in the afternoons, supervising classes across various year groups in the absence of the class teacher.
- Supporting the school's ethos, ensuring that all pupils receive a high-quality learning experience.
- Collaborating with teachers and other staff to ensure consistent support for pupils.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- HLTA qualification or equivalent experience in a school setting.
- Previous experience working with children in a teaching assistant or classroom support role, ideally in upper primary/Key Stage 2.
- A passion for supporting children's learning and development.
- Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to maintain a calm and focused environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well within a team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
