SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Newham

Salary/ Rate: £95 - £105 a day

Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm

Milk Education have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their Inclusion Team and provide support for pupils within our school. We have partnered with an ‘Outstanding’ school offering education for 4 -12 year olds with classes of up to 28 students and possible SEN Teaching Assistants offering support as well.

Under the direction of our class teachers, you will be working to meet the bespoke needs of our children through providing scaffolding and intervention to meet their needs. You will need to have a good understanding of maths and English in order to be able to support pupils in lessons. You will need to be able to think on your feet in order to adapt ideas and support our pupils. 

SEN Teaching Assistant Duties:

  • To provide teaching support in small groups and where necessary work with individual pupils to the highest standards
  • Assist the teacher in monitoring progress by keeping a daily observation record and maintain special needs records as required
  • To undertake specific duties identified by class teacher/ Lead teacher
  • Reinforce the behaviour policy and aim to raise self-esteem and encourage independent working.
  • To maintain a positive, supportive attitude within a team, to implement agreed school policies, aims and objectives and to promote the school ethos.
  • Set an excellent example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance

SEN Teaching Assistant candidate must haves:

  • Basic knowledge of SEND and learning barriers
  • Some knowledge of strategies in working with young people with challenging behaviours
  • Experience of working directly with young people in an education or training environment, supporting the learning of students.
  • Experience of establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with a range of students and staff
