Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

LTF Recruitment is excited to partner with a fantastic secondary school in Waltham Forest, seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team. This role focuses on supporting Key Stage 3 and 4 students and is a long-term opportunity with the possibility of becoming permanent for the right candidate. The successful HLTA will work within the classroom, assisting teachers and leading interventions, providing essential support to students' learning and development.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in maintaining an organised and productive classroom environment.
  • Support behaviour management, ensuring students remain focused and engaged in lessons.
  • Provide targeted support to small groups and deliver one-on-one interventions to help students reach their full potential.
  • Step in to cover lessons in the teacher's absence, planning and delivering interventions as required.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the Key Stage 3 and 4 curriculum and implement effective strategies to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).


The Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds a relevant degree or HLTA qualification.
  • Has at least one year of experience working in an educational setting, ideally within a secondary school.
  • Experienced in supporting Key Stage 3 or 4 students (Years 7-9) (10-11)
  • Knowledgeable about various SEN needs and experienced in providing one-on-one support.
  • Capable of building strong relationships with students quickly and effectively, helping them feel supported and confident in their learning.
