About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Food Technology Teacher to join our vibrant secondary school in Tower Hamlets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching food preparation, nutrition, and culinary skills, and will be dedicated to inspiring students to develop a love for cooking and healthy living. You will have the opportunity to teach Key Stage 3 and 4 students, preparing them for both GCSE and real-world applications of food technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons that cater to different learning styles.
  • Teach essential culinary skills, food safety, and nutrition principles in line with the national curriculum.
  • Foster creativity and practical skills in the kitchen while encouraging students to understand the importance of healthy eating.
  • Support students in preparing for their GCSE exams by developing their practical and theoretical knowledge.
  • Manage and maintain the food technology kitchen, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Collaborate with the wider Design and Technology (DT) department and participate in extracurricular activities such as cooking clubs and food-related events.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualifications.
  • A degree in Food Technology, Nutrition, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, nutrition, and food safety regulations.
  • Experience in teaching Food Technology at secondary school level, preferably with GCSE experience.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • A commitment to promoting healthy eating and food sustainability.
