The School and Role
This ‘Good with Outstanding Features’ SEND school, based in North Tyneside, supports children and young people aged 4-11 and is looking to appoint a passionate supply Speech and Language Assistant to work with Key Stage 1 or 2 pupils as a Teaching Assistant.
Working in this Primary SEND school as part of an established team, the desired supply Speech and Language Assistant will be working on a small class sized basis with pupils with SEND including Autism, Speech and Language Communication Difficulties, Sensory Needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH).
You will assist the class teacher with supporting teaching and learning, leading small group and 1:1 interventions as well as assisting pupils with their individual needs including personal care. You will be responsible for behaviour management as well as supporting the progress of pupils, liaising with staff and parents and participating in weekly CPD sessions.

Requirements
The desired Speech and Language Assistant will have;
- Speech and Language experience.
- Experience of working with primary or secondary school aged children.
- Experience of working with pupils with SEND.
- A passion for the progress of all SEND pupils.
- An ability to work as part of a team.
