Head of Procurement
- £55,000 - £60,000 per annum
- Loughborough (Some UK Travel is required)
We are seeking a Head of Procurement to lead and manage the procurement function across an established Education Trust. This pivotal role supports the Trust’s objectives by ensuring value for money, effective supplier management, strategic sourcing, and providing high-quality, user-friendly procurement support to academy-based colleagues.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Develop and implement a Trust-wide procurement strategy aligned with the Trust’s objectives.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the procurement team, ensuring high performance.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and procurement decision-makers to identify and prioritise procurement needs, advising on the suitability of procurement approaches by category.
- Oversee the end-to-end procurement process, from needs assessment to supplier selection and contract negotiation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies, including UK public procurement regulations.
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance and support the management of supplier relationships.
- Oversee the Contracts Register and the Preferred Supplier Lists, ensuring they are up-to-date and meet the needs of the Trust.
- Advise on and lead the delivery of upgrades to the Trust’s procurement software processes.
- Work towards the Trust’s achievement of the CIPS Procurement Excellence Programme Standard.
- Develop and maintain procurement metrics and reports to track performance and outcomes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a senior procurement role, ideally within an educational or public sector environment.
- CIPS Qualified is highly desirable
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Extensive knowledge of procurement regulations and best practices.
- Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Ability to develop and implement procurement strategies that align with organisational objectives.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to create detailed reports and metrics.
- Experience with procurement software and systems.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
