As a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in providing targeted support to young learners, helping them build communication skills and boosting their confidence in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to primary-aged pupils with speech and language difficulties, both in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Assist in delivering specialised learning strategies and speech therapy exercises under the guidance of speech and language therapists and SEN coordinators.
  • Help students with communication skills, such as listening, understanding, speaking, and social interaction.
  • Work closely with class teachers, SEN staff, and other professionals to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and track students' progress.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages pupils to engage and succeed academically and socially.

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with speech and language needs
  • A passion for supporting young children and helping them overcome communication barriers.
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and a compassionate approach to working with pupils facing speech and language difficulties.
  • A collaborative mindset, able to work well with teachers and other professionals to ensure effective support for students.
  • An interest in gaining hands-on experience in a school setting, particularly in the areas of special educational needs (SEN) and speech and language development.
